It was’t quite the breeze I expected.
I had been running a very competent component system, essentially unchanged, for almost twenty
years. I was happy; music-loving friends were complimentary and approving. Yet I couldn’t shake the
feeling that the world had advanced around me; that there might be dimensions and nuances in the
music that I’d never experienced; that it might be time to shake things up. And with that, I opened my
heart to “the new”.
I began exploring and, almost as though fated, discovered PureAudio Project. Devouring their website
and several reviews, I settled on the Trio-10/Heil-AMT as most suitable for my room and musical tastes.
After a thirty-minute phone consultation with the designer I became certain — of the speakers
themselves — and, more importantly, of PureAudio Project, the company, its principles and its designer
(Ze’ev Schlik) and I initiated the purchased that very day.
Once all component parts had been delivered and assembly begun we encountered a number of
anomalies in the assembly manual and within the complement of parts provided. I say “we” because,
throughout the extended assembly process, Ze’ev and his good people were right there with me,
guiding me through every twist and turn — illuminating the path — kind and patient — always reassuring
and caring; guardian angels.
Once assembled and thoroughly burned-in, I set the existing speakers to the side and placed the Trios
in their place — in this way able to compare the two very-different pairs of transducers in real time.
Playing music I had known and loved over decades of enjoyment, it wasn’t long before I realized that
the portal to a new world of pleasure had been opened, and new truths revealed; astonishing and
sublime — the transformation. It was as though, with the Trios, I’d found my way home after years
subsisting in the wilderness on meager fare.
Over the subsequent months of careful listening, I began to sense that the Trios deserved better of the
upstream components driving them — and so began another adventure that has led to my replacing all
original source and amplification components (cables, too).
Here, now — in a dedicated music room — the Trios sing each night in all their glory.
And I am proud and happy.
