Yes, it finally happened, I found my new sound! I’ve long had the idea of having two systems, one with low power and highly efficient speakers, and the opposite, a high power solid state amp and lower (or what some call normal) efficiency speakers. I also wanted to experience the opposite end of the sound spectrum, as all I’ve ever really had were traditional box speakers, and gradually over time I became more and more interested in open baffles. Lots of exploration led me to @pure_audio_project. I had the great opportunity to hear these speakers at the Montreal Audio Show, and I knew then and there that I had to have a pair.
These are their newest offering, the TRIO10’s w/ HeilAMT. They are smaller than their relatives, but don’t let the smaller footprint fool you. These sound fantastic in my living room and have immediately made themselves at home. These are surprisingly easy to move around, making dialing them in a breeze. And on that note, I didn’t have to do much. I plopped them down and they sounded pretty damned good right where they were. A few small adjustments were needed, mostly for aesthetic reasons if I’m honest.
I’ve got some fun stuff planned for these, and can’t wait to see how much I can get out of them. I’ll do a deeper dive into the sound in the coming posts, once I truly start to feel comfortable with them and understand them better.
It’s great fun having some new friends in the house. It’s also bittersweet, and I hate to say this, but my original idea of having two systems may be a moot point, because I’m instantly afraid that the other system isn’t going to be getting much use, at least for the time being. The DWs are on the bench for now, but that’s what I love about having multiple systems. Changing things up from time to time shows you what you appreciate about each.
A big thanks to @pure_audio_project for helping make all this happen!
